FAQ's

Q: What is a Nurse Practitioner?

A: Nurse Practitioners (NPs) are Registered Nurses with graduate-level preparation which extends their scope of practice to assess, diagnose, treat, prescribe medication, order and interpret diagnostic tests and lab work, and make referrals to specialists within their autonomous and legislated scope of practice. They provide evidence-based care by integrating their knowledge, skills and clinical practice guidelines with patient-centred care.

Q: Why is there a fee for Nurse Practitioner medical services?

A: Currently there is no insured healthcare billing option for nurse practitioners to be remunerated by the government for their medical services as physicians do. Similar to other healthcare professionals who provide uninsured healthcare services (like chiropractors, physiotherapists, dentists, and others) some 3rd party private insurance companies may provide coverage for healthcare professionals like Nurse Practitioners. Please check if your private insurance benefits will provide you with this coverage.

Q: Can a Nurse Practitioner be a Medical Director?

A: Nurse Practitioners are autonomous and legislated practitioners under federal and provincial laws and licensed under their professional associations. However, they must have additional training and certifications specific to the area of Medical Aesthetics before they can practice as an aesthetics practitioner/injector or be a Medical Director for a Medical Aesthetics clinic. Medical Directors should additionally have access to your health information and an electronic medical record so they can manage any adverse effects of medical aesthetics treatments in a timely and appropriate manner.

Q: What are common aesthetic services for men?

A: Men are typically interested in male pattern hair loss treatments, neuromodulator treatments to decrease wrinkles, filler treatments to restore facial volume loss and corrective contouring of facial features for handsomeness enhancement. They also can benefit from skin rejuvenation treatments.

Q: What are 6S of Anti-aging that you can do at home?

A: Improve SLEEP, manage STRESS, quit SMOKING, use SUNSCREEN, use good SKIN products and less dietary SUGAR

Q: What to expect during your aesthetics treatment appointment?

A: You can expect to be informed of treatment options, have a clear treatment plan, and have all of your questions answered. After the treatment plan is discussed taking into account the risks and benefits of treatment, your preferences and your budget, you will sign a consent form. Before and after photos will be taken as a mandatory component of care. You will be provided with verbal and written post-procedure instructions.
